RETROFITTING EXISTING SEPTIC
TANKS & TREATMENT PLANTS
Retrofitting an existing septic tank or chemical treatment
plant can work out as a cost effective way to treat
sewerage, garbage and grey water in an energy efficient
way. For example if you look at the service and energy
costs for chlorinated treatment plants and septic tanks
it would be very easy to justify a retro-fit to a Worm
Farm Waste System.
The retrofit requires a septic tank chamber that is
in good structural condition. We would remove the baffles
and convert to a Worm Farm Waste System.
The vent pipe can either be freestanding coming from
the bottom of the chamber or attached to the building
if appropriate.
Your actual processing of liquid will increase dramatically.
As the Worm Farm Waste System is not mechanical, you
cannot overload it and additional energy consumption
is not required for processing. Let the worms do it
naturally.
Unlike chemical treatment plants and septic tanks,
Worm Farm Waste systems have the added bonus of processing
of organic garbage. Only plastics, bottles and cans,
all recyclable, will be taken off site.
